Google Whisperer’s Guide to Data Differences between Universal GA and Google Analytics 4

Despite all our wishing, Google Analytics 4 is here to stay. While Google hasn’t given us a date yet to migrate our properties, we all should expect to see that time come in 2022.

Moving over to Google Analytics 4 will mean work. With the Google Whisperer Guides, I try to break down all the different parts of GA4 and which changes matter most to dealers. We’ve talked about setting up streams, creating events for leads or page views, looking at traffic identification, and seeing where to find campaign information. As I have said before in webinars, everyone should have their New Year’s Resolution set to devote an hour a month to practicing report building in GA4.

What we haven’t talked about are the data collection differences.

That is until today. In my Google Whisperer’s Guide: Understanding Data Differences Between Universal Google Analytics & GA4, we dive into the sessions, counting differences in both tools, looking at how an active user is defined, and how to find your events. We also cover what bounce rate is turning into in GA4, as “where did bounce rate go” is the second most popular question I get asked. The first being, “When is Google making us move over to GA4?”

Start understanding the data differences that will become our new normal today by downloading our guide. In the meantime, if you are a dealer with Google Analytics questions, reach out to the Whisperer today!
